Apple has confirmed with press that its next media event — the opening keynote of WWDC — will take place on June 4th at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. The keynote will be held in San Jose, California, at the McEnery Convention Center where Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference is held. WWDC 2018 runs June 4th through 8th with developer sessions on Apple’s latest platform technology scheduled throughout the week, and the opening keynote is where Apple first debuts its latest platform changes....

First, on the iPhone go to Settings » Messages » Receive At. This shows the addresses you receive iMessages at on your iPhone. By default this will be your iPhone’s number and your Apple ID. Add the email addresses that you’d like people to use to send you iMessages. The great thing about this is you can have coworkers, friends, and family all send you iMessages at separate email addresses....

Earlier today, Apple announced at WWDC 2021 that Apple Music Lossless and the Spatial Audio feature would be made available to all users today. Now the company is finally rolling out these features to Apple Music subscribers. Apple announced Spatial Audio and Lossless songs for Apple Music in May, but both features were yet to be released to users. During today’s WWDC 2021 opening event, the company confirmed that users would get these Apple Music updates today, although it didn’t mention any specific times....

While Spotify has long-held a lead over Apple in streaming music subscribers, the gap between the two is slowly narrowing, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal. The report, citing “people in the record business,” explains that Apple Music is adding subscribers in the United States at a faster rate than Spotify… Apple Music has been adding new subscribers at a 5 percent monthly rate, whereas Spotify is growing at a slower 2 percent rate....

Update: Apple has now confirmed the arrangement, which includes live-streaming coverage. The Democratic National Committee has today announced the next series of presidential debates for 2020. For the first time ever, Apple News will serve as partner for one of those debates. As reported by Axios, Apple News is partnering up for the 8th Democratic debate on February 7. Apple News is teaming up with ABC and WMUR-TV, a local ABC affiliate, for the debate....

Analytics firm Distimo is out today with the full results of its year-end 2012 app analytics report (via Fortune). While Apple is still the clear winner in terms of revenue, Google Play showed significant growth in the last four months. Its daily revenue grew 43 percent in 20 major markets. Apple’s growth was smaller, increasing daily revenue by 21 percent, but Distimo’s numbers show Google still has a long way to go:...

Apple made a host of improvements to iTunes within iTunes 9, but at least one of those is going to be of huge benefit to a key category of the company’s stakeholders – Apps developers. Apple has long been rumored to be creating its own original TV content, and now it’s made its first plans official. Apple shared today that it will work with TV executives Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, as well as rapper Will.i.am on its first TV project (via NY Times). Silverman is perhaps best known for his work on shows like The Biggest Loser, while Owens is one of the minds behind MasterChef Junior....

Apple has asked developers who attended secretive Apple Watch app development workshops in Cupertino across January and February to hold off on announcing their applications, according to multiple high-profile developers. These people say that Apple has asked developers to not provide in-depth details, revealing screenshots and videos, or launch information about their applications until after the event at the very least. In some cases, Apple has even asked developers to wait until late March or early April to announce their applications…...

Following reports that Apple is now selling more iPhones in China than in the US, today Canalys is out with research showing Apple for the first time lead smartphone sales in China by units shipped during the last quarter of 2014. The incredible popularity of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in China in Q4 2014 has led Apple to take first place in the Chinese smart phone market for the first time by units shipped....

Update: Kapeli has responded to Apple’s allegations in a new blog post, claiming that Apple never made contact before deleting the app and developer account. Additionally, Kapeli shared audio of the phone call with Apple regarding the issue. Last week, we reported on the removal of popular developer app Dash from the App Store, as well as the termination of the creator’s Apple Developer account. The company that publishes Dash, Kapeli, originally stated that it did not have any idea why Apple removed the app from the App Store, though it was later revealed that Apple had found evidence of App Store review manipulation....

FOSS Patents is reporting that Apple received two more favourable rulings in their ongoing battle against Samsung in the courts. These judgements increase the chance of Apple winning the March patent trial “not hugely but significantly”, according to Mueller. In a judgement filed yesterday, Samsung was found to infringe on one of Apple’s asserted patents and one of its own patents in the case was invalidated. Samsung was found to infringe on patent no 8,074,172, covering autocomplete technology....

Nearly one year after launching its first devices with NFC chips, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, to enable the Apple Pay mobile payments system, Apple has joined the official NFC Forum as a top-tier sponsor. Along with the sponsorship role, Apple has joined the forum’s Board of Directors, according to the forum’s official website. The site lists representation from Aon Mujtaba, a Director on Apple’s Wireless Systems Engineering team for the iPhone....

Apple today has officially launched support for financing additional products with Apple Card and 0% interest. The new financing options are available for the Mac lineup, iPad, AirPods Pro, AirPods, Apple Pencil, and more. In December, Apple launched a new iPhone 0% financing option for Apple Card users, and during Apple’s most recent earnings call with investors, Tim Cook teased that similar promotions would soon be available for other Apple products and recent reports indicated the rollout was imminent....

Those ongoing analyst predictions that Apple would buy Tesla may have been based on some sort of reality. According the the SF Chronicle, Adrian Perica, Apple’s head of mergers and acquisitions, met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk last spring.
