Yesterday’s unveiling of the all-new Mac Pro at Apple’s WWDC keynote certainly made up for the fact that we didn’t see any updates to Apple’s pro apps like we we’re hoping. However, you might have missed Phil Schiller’s rather quick confirmation that a new version of Final Cut Pro X is indeed coming later this year: Schiller didn’t go into specific features that we’ll be seeing in the new version, but support for the new Mac Pro means support for the machine’s dual workstation GPUs and AMD FirePro Graphics, something that many other pro apps will need to update in order to support....

Apple has today filed a patent for a set of intriguing new autonomous vehicle features called “Peloton.” The filing describes the ability for multiple self-driving cars to share battery capacity via a “connector arm,” dynamically adjust positions, increase efficiency, and more. Apple filed the details with the US Patent and Trademark Office today. Named “Peloton,” which in cycling refers to the main group of riders, this patent describes some advanced features to make autonomous vehicles travel further and more efficiently....

Reliance Retail today told India’s Economic Times that it plans to launch 60 Apple Premium Reseller stores across the country by 2011. The company this week launched its fourth iStore in Jaipur. CEO Ajay Baijal said the shop is going to stock the entire range of Apple products for both the professional and consumer segments. Indian consumers can also look forward to the launch of “up to” 150 ‘Reliance Digital’ mega-stores, offering consumer electronics products, across India in the next two years....

Apple has launched a new Apple Wallet webpage highlighting the growing number of features in the Wallet app on iPhone and Apple Watch. The company also completely redesigned the Apple Pay website, touting the benefits of Apple’s mobile payment platform. Update: Apple has also launched a new Apple Cash website today as well, as first spotted by AppleUser2000 on Twitter. On the pun-filled Apple Wallet webpage, Apple touts that the Apple Wallet app on iPhone and Apple Watch lets you store debit and credit cards, transit cards, boarding passes, and more, “all in one place....

Apple’s WWDC is set for June 4. Now, the company has begun notifying scholarship applicants of their award status. While the typical ticket price is $1599, WWDC scholarship winners receive free access to the conference and more. In addition to a free ticket, this year’s winners will enjoy free travel and hotel accommodations, as well as a one year membership to Apple’s Developer Program. WWDC 2018 will be held on June 4th through the 6th in San Jose, California....

Apple’s new under-construction 175 acre campus, now officially named Apple Park, is nearing completion ahead of an expected grand opening next month. The latest look at the site comes today via a drone flyover courtesy of Matthew Roberts (below), which shows progress made on the site in recent weeks including continued work on landscaping, solar installations, and other finishing touches. There are even signs of life at the new campus already with office chairs, tables and other equipment being set up inside…...

Fox Searchlight has released a final trailer for its upcoming horror film, Antlers. The first movie developed under Guillermo del Toro’s 2018 deal with Fox, Antlers is based on a short story titled “The Quiet Boy”, as was written by Channel Zero creator and The Act showrunner Nick Antosca. Plot-wise, the film revolves around Julia, a small-town Oregon schoolteacher (Keri Russell) who discovers one of her students, Lucas (Jeremy T. Thomas), is hiding a terrible secret that endangers them all....

Apple earlier this month launched a new website and video series focused on helping users get the most out of their iPhone cameras, and today the company has further expanded the series with four new how-to videos… Apple has added four new tutorials to its “How to Shoot on iPhone 7” website: how to convert to black and white, how to shoot with zoom on the iPhone 7 Plus, how to shoot a horizon, and how to capture an intimate moment....

Apple has added Passbook functionality to its app for the iTunes Festival London 2013 app. Additionally, today’s update brings support for image viewing in an iOS device’s landscape orientation. The app was updated late last month to list the line-up of artists for the September Apple-run music festival. Apple announced this year’s festival last week, noting that artists such as Jack Johnson, Justin Timberlake, and Thirty Seconds to Mars would highlight the events....

iOS 14 was announced with some great new features for iMessage, including more options for group conversations, inline replies, and more. However, there’s also an important change in iMessage that Apple hasn’t mentioned so far. The company has adopted a new security system called “BlastDoor,” which is basically a sandbox mode that protects the Messages app from the rest of iOS. As reported by ZDNet, this new security feature of iOS 14 was discovered by Samuel Groß, a security researcher working with Google’s Project Zero....

Apple just posted a press release announcing debut iPhone 5 sales topped 5 million units sold since going on sale on Friday and pre-order Sept. 14. The Cupertino-based company also announced 100 million iOS devices are now running iOS 6. CEO Tim Cook noted, “While we have sold out of our initial supply, stores continue to receive iPhone 5 shipments regularly and customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date....

News broke this afternoon that AT&T-owned Warner Bros. is looking to sell its gaming division. Could this be a perfect opportunity for Apple to make its young gaming service more compelling with big titles like Mortal Kombat and Batman Arkham? Apple Arcade features over 100 games, many of them exclusive to the platform that is supported by a $5/month subscription. While Apple doesn’t break out its subscriber count for the service in quarterly earnings calls, some analysts think the service could see around 12 million paying users by the end of this year....

In addition to its new software updates today, Apple has also updated the Apple Card privacy policy. As first reported by TechCrunch, the new privacy policy allows additional anonymized data to be shared with Goldman Sachs. According to the report, Apple believes that it will be able to “expand the kind of user that might be able to secure credit” by sharing a “richer, but still anonymized credit assignment model with Goldman Sachs....

Macs? That’s right. New figures from the research group as reported by eWeek reveal that 66 per cent of laptops sold in US retail stores that cost $1,000 or more are Macs. And while that share slides to just 14 per cent for computers costing under $1,000, the news still confirms Apple’s growing footprint in retail Mac sales. NPD vice president Stephen Baker told eWeek that Apple’s notebook marketshare is growing at twice the market rate, with Windows notebooks “pretty flat right now”....

Released in 2011 and 2012, Mac OS X Lion and OS X Mountain Lion were the last paid software updates for the Mac. Ten years ago, users needed to pay Apple $19.99 for the latest version of its OS X, and now you can finally download these two for free. As reported by MacWorld, through support pages, it’s possible to download them for free. Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is available for older systems that are not compatible with the latest version of macOS and requires the following: Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor OS X Snow Leopard 10....

UK retailer John Lewis is opening a new 230,000 sq. ft. location in the Westfield London shopping center today, and on display in the giant new department store is a full display dedicated to Apple HomeKit. HouseBeautiful got a sneak peek at the setup before the doors opened to the public… Apple Stores have experimented with neat ways to simulate HomeKit demonstrations in small spaces, but the John Lewis HomeKit showcase offers customers a real hands-on experience with controlling smart home accessories with Siri and Apple’s Home app....

Apple plans to create an online retail presence in Indonesia, according to a report from NZWeek (via TNW), as well as open its first retail location in the country with a new store in the capital city, Jakarta. Confirmation of the investment comes from the country’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). It has approved Apple’s application to open up shop in the country, and the report claimed Apple is looking to invest $2 million to $3 million USD in the capital city of Jakarta to open its first brick-and-mortar retail location....

According to a report from Silicon Valley Business Journal, Apple has recently leased a 96,000-square-foot industrial property in Sunnyvale, California. The property was originally home to a Pepsi bottling plant, but Apple now occupies the entire space. It has widely been reported in the past that Apple is testing its Project Titan electric car initiative in Sunnyvale, with the company reportedly operating a shell company called Sixty Eight Research out of the city....
