The news was earlier reported by the LA Times. The program will equip students across the nation’s second biggest school district with iPads that include the Pearson Common Core System of Courses delivered via a new app as part of the integrated solution....

Apple has added a handful of new stars to its upcoming thriller drama seres ‘Are You Sleeping?’ based on the book of the same name. Ahead of its launch next week, Apple today has launched a new ad for Beats 1 in Times Square in New York City. Zane Lowe, who will be one of three hosts on Apple’s 24/7 streaming station Beats 1, tweeted the above image of the advertisement. The promotional image touts that Beats 1 is worldwide and always on, two of the qualities Apple discussed heavily when it unveiled Apple Music at WWDC....

Apple CEO Tim Cook led a virtual company-wide meeting today, addressing the ongoing COVID-19 situation and associated plans to return to work. In a new report this afternoon, Bloomberg has the details of the meeting. During the meeting, Cook promised that Apple will keep investing in research and development in a “really significant way,” despite the current “uncertain and stressful” environment of COVID-19. The Apple CEO said: Cook was asked during the meeting about potential job cuts, and he reiterated that Apple is focused on the long-term future, not making short-term adjustments....

In homage to its history, Apple has hung a pirate flag at its Infinite Loop Headquarters (images via @twfarley and @mjisrawi). On April 1st, 40 years ago, Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. The iconic flag, complete with rainbow Apple logo for an eye, dates back to the creation of the original Mac. Apple has pushed out the fourth beta version of the iOS 9.1 mobile OS update. The software is designed to fix bugs that appeared in the public build of 9.1 and introduce a few new features, like a larger emoji set and an option to disable contact photos in the Messages app. The most recent beta introduced four new wallpapers. The latest build is available to both developers and public beta testers....

Marking the completion of a construction project over a decade in the making, Apple today welcomed the general public to their new campus with a grand opening celebration at the Apple Park Visitor Center. Apple Park’s Visitor Center is located across the street from the main campus “spaceship” building, separated by N. Tantau Ave. While the public isn’t allowed in employee areas or at the Steve Jobs Theater, the visitor center offers a rooftop observation deck overlooking the campus....

Apple has recently signed a deal with Indian ride-sharing service Ola that will see Apple Music become available in some of the service’s cars The Los Angeles Times first reported on the partnership, explaining that Apple Music will come to some cars as part of a platform known as “Ola Play.” Ola, for those unfamiliar, is India’s largest ride-hailing company, similar to that of Uber and Lyft. The service’s partnership with Apple is similar to Uber’s 2014 partnership with Spotify, which allows riders to control the music played in their Uber via the Spotify app on their phone....

BioWare has finally released the Cataclysm update for Anthem, which includes new loot and drop rate increases. This update comes after PC players got a peek at the event on Anthem’s public test server. That Anthem PTS recently closed down, leading many to speculate that Cataclysm was finally ready to make its way to the main game. Anthem has seen its share of criticism. Since its release, the game has frustrated players with game-breaking bugs and promised features that were never delivered, along with a host of other problems....

Anthem Update 1.0.4 has once again changed the way loot behaves in EA and BioWare’s looter shooter, and unfortunately, the developers have somehow made things even worse than they were previously. Players are reporting significant, detrimental changes to loot, alongside some major bugs that are negatively affecting other gameplay areas as well. Anthem actually enjoyed a successful launch month despite near-universal criticism of the game, which has quickly become the worst-reviewed BioWare title in the studio’s history....

Apple’s App Tracking Transparency policy, expected to come into force shortly, has led to an antitrust complaint in Germany from some of the largest media, tech, and ad companies in the country. It follows a similar complaint in France last month. The companies behind the complaint say that app developers could see their ad revenue fall by 60%, and also claim that consumers will pay more for apps … The Financial Times reports:...

Earlier today Apple opened up its public beta program for the upcoming OS X Yosemite release allowing the public to download the beta build from the Mac App Store. Those who signed up for the program received a code through Apple’s Beta Program website, but a number of users reported experiencing an error that said their code had already been redeemed. Apple today announced the HomePod mini, its latest smart speaker product following the launch of the original HomePod in 2017. The speaker features a new circular ‘bowl’ design, available in white or black, wrapped in mesh fabric. HomePod mini will be released on November 16 for $99. Orders start November 6. Apple said the new HomePod mini combines amazing sound with the smarts of a voice assistant. The speaker emits sound in a 360-degree array....

Apple has posted the dates of the usual holiday shutdown of iTunes Connect, running for eight days from 22 to 29 December inclusive. During this time, developers will not be able to submit either new apps or updates to existing ones. Developers can still schedule apps for release during these dates, but they will need to be submitted and approved beforehand. Other iTunes Connect functionality, such as access to analytics data, will remain available....
