In updates to our original story, we noted the hack’s developer, Alexey V. Borodin, said in an interview that Apple’s method of validating receipts for developers would not protect apps from the hack. Apple followed up with a statement that claimed it is investigating the issue....

As is becoming a tradition, Apple CEO Tim Cook stopped by the Palo Alto Apple Store close to Apple’s Campus today to meet and greet folks buying up Apple’s latest releases, the iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7. While the store wasn’t quite packed, it does appear that Cook got to meet and get some ‘facetime’ with both employees and customers. The Palo Alto Store isn’t the closest to Apple’s campus but it is the one that Steve Jobs used to show up to unannounced frequently and is one of the more open layouts in the area....

Apple today has shared yet another new iPhone 6s ad focusing on the device’s always-lisnteing “Hey Siri” feature. Earlier this week, Apple debuted two new advertisements for the iPhone 6s, one focused on the device’s improved performance and another on “Hey Siri.” This ad stars highly acclaimed director Jon Favreau and showcases the iPhone 6s being used on a film set. Entitled “On the Set,” this 15-second advert shows Favreau utilizing the “Hey Siri” functionality of iPhone 6s to quickly find out information on a scene he is attempting to shoot....

Just after coming to a surprise settlement with Qualcomm yesterday, Apple has been hit with another lawsuit. The latest is a class-action suit filed by an employees’ retirement fund and claims that Apple committed securities fraud with how it handled information about its iPhone sales. As reported by The Mercury News, the City of Roseville employees’ retirement fund filed the lawsuit against Apple saying that the company knew back in November last year that iPhone sales weren’t going as expected, but were telling a different story to investors....

Alongside the introduction of iOS 13, Apple has significantly updated its Design Resources with new tools for developers and designers that will help create consistent, usable, and visually pleasing apps. One of the biggest additions is a brand new set of configurable symbols and a companion macOS app called SF Symbols. SFSymbols is a set of over 1,000 consistent and highly configurable symbols that was designed to integrate with Apple’s system font, San Francisco....

Back in June Apple faced off against a Mexican telecom over the trademarked word “iFone.” In that case, the iFone telecommunications company argued that Apple had infringed its trademark with the iPhone. A court ruled that because telecom services and telephone hardware aren’t the same product, there should be no confusion among consumers about which is which. Unfortunately for mobile carriers in the country, because they do offer telecommunications services, they were barred from using the name “iPhone” in marketing materials....

Yes, the Apple iPhone XS battery case is compatible with the Apple X device, though Apple says it’s not compatible, so what’s the story here. Well, reports in the claim the new $129 Smart Battery Case made for the iPhone XS is compatible with last year’s iPhone X flagship as well. Just yesterday, it looked like Apple had left their old loyal customers from their minds when they announced the new battery cases for their new iPhone line-up of iPhone XS, XS Max and XR respectively....

Apple has opened pre-orders on a new exclusive album on the iTunes Store, titled “Dance (RED) Save Lives, Vol. 2”. The album, which is expected to debut on November 25th, is in support of the Global Fund, with 100% of proceeds being donated to the cause. Apple promoted Volume 1 of the album last year, with proceeds benefiting the same cause. Notable artists who have tracks featured on the album include Katy Perry, Coldplay, Robin Thicke, and Calvin Harris....

Apple quickly mentioned some improvements to Podcasts on stage at WWDC yesterday. Now, the company has outlined some additional improvements for Podcasts in iOS 13 in an email to creators and via its developer website. In an email to Podcast Providers this afternoon, Apple outlined enhancements coming to Podcasts search, which it also mentioned on stage yesterday. For instance, when a user searches in Podcasts, the search will also look for the term in transcripts....

A consortium including Apple Inc, Microsoft, EMC Corp, Sony, Ericsson, and BlackBerry maker Research In Motion bought bankrupt telecommunications gear maker Nortel Networks Corp’s remaining portfolio of 6000 patents for $4.5 billion, in an auction that began early this week. RIM reportedly paid $770 million, Ericsson paid $340 million. It wasn’t immediately clear how much Apple paid. Google had originally opened bidding with a $900 million bid. The consortium of strange bedfellows will split up the portfolio based on the split of the purchase price....

With only a few days until Apple’s big iPad Pro and Mac event on Tuesday, the company has begun putting up decorations at their host venue, the Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York City. Japanese Apple blog Mac Otakara published a video on YouTube, giving us a glimpse at how Apple is currently decorating the venue. Unlike many other events, Apple is holding this one outside of California; since it’s in New York, it starts at 10AM EDT, making that 7AM PDT, versus the usual 10AM PDT....

Last week, a report from iFixit detailed a new feature in iOS that alerts users if an iPhone battery can’t be verified as a genuine Apple part. In a new statement today, Apple defends that warning in iOS as a way to ensure device performance and safety. Some characterized this feature as another way for Apple to eliminate the third-party repair market. Specifically, people questioned the new feature amid the ongoing “Right to Repair” battle....

Apple seems to be honing in on its original content efforts. Just yesterday, news broke that the company has reportedly landed a show featuring J.J Abrams and Sara Bareilles as executive producers. Reported today by Variety, Apple has also landed the rights to develop an adaptation of Gregory David Robert’s novel Shantaram. Every day, Apple runs a shuttle service from San Francisco to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino to help employees commute to work. Sadly, some of these buses have been attacked in the last week by unknown criminals resulting in smashed windows. Mashable confirmed with Apple that the incidents were happening but the company did not say how the buses were being damaged; presumably someone is throwing objects (rocks?) to break the glass....
