Apple is breathing new life into its award-winning Shot on iPhone ad campaign. According to TechCrunch, the company is launching a new series of images in the campaign that focus on color. The campaign is called Colors and will put images shot with an iPhone on billboards across many countries.
Apple says that all images in the new campaign will focus on showcasing bright and vibrant colors users see around them on a daily basis. In the past, Apple has showcased images and videos in the Shot on iPhone series, but the Colors campaign will focus on solely images at this point.
Apple has always been sure to recognize the original photographers of images used in the Shot on iPhone series and the Colors campaign is no different. Each billboard showcases the image and has a caption with the original source of the image and the “Shot on iPhone 6s” branding. Last year, Apple even went as far as surprising Shot on iPhone photographers with a physical photo book of ads from the campaign.
The Colors campaign will be showcased on billboards across the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Russia, UAE, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Korea, China, Malaysia, New Zealand and Thailand.
Apple’s Shot on iPhone campaign has been hugely successful after initially being introduced in early 2015. The campaign took home one of the top prizes at the Cannes Grand Prix festival last year, while a photo featured in the campaign won its own Cannes Lions award. Last month, Apple released 8 new videos as part of the campaign, while before that it brought the series back to life for Mother’s Day.
The iPhone 7 is expected to bring a host of new camera capabilities to the device, including larger lenses on both the 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch models, while the latter will also gain a second lens on the back for a dual-camera set-up. With that in mind, it doesn’t look like the Shot on iPhone ad series is going away anytime soon.
