Following the release of the MobileFirst suite of iOS enterprise apps last year, the result of a new partnership between Apple and IBM, today the companies are rolling out the apps to the Japanese market.
The companies haven’t made an official announcement yet, but sources close to the situation say seven apps are arriving for Japanese customers today.
IBM Japan is making seven of the 14 MobileFirst apps available in Japan, including: banking and financial apps Advise & Grow, and Trusted Advice, insurance app Retention, the Case Advice app for government organizations, Expert Tech for telecommunications, Sales Assist, and Pick & Pack apps for the retail industry.
Apple and IBM first rolled out its new IBM MobileFirst for iOS apps back in December of last year after announcing a partnership in the summer that will see the two companies collaborate to develop and push iPad and iPhone software, devices, and support to enterprise customers.
Earlier this month Apple rolled out three new apps for the MobileFirst suite bringing the total number of apps available to 14 across eight industries. During its Q1 2015 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook said the company planned to have a total of 22 new apps available early this year as it looks to release iOS solutions for healthcare, energy & utilities, and industrial products.
