The iPad Pro quietly gained a new capability in iOS 9.3 beta 2: German developer Stefan Wolfrum tweeted that the device can now update the firmware in devices attached to the Smart Connector. He was offered, and able to complete, a firmware update to his Logitech Create keyboard. Firmware updates of accessories usually need you to connect them to a Mac, but as the Smart Connector is unique to the iPad Pro, it’s likely this fact that prompted the new capability …...

Here’s an example of app notifications showing on the Lock Screen. When enabled to show on the Lock Screen, anyone passing by will be able to see your notifications – even if you created a pass code. To disable notifications from showing on the Lock Screen, go to Settings » Notifications. Then tap the app you don’t want to display. Here, I’m selecting Reminders. On the next screen, tap View in Lock Screen to turn it off....

The timing of the announcement would seem to coincide nicely with Apple’s iCloud release in the coming days. Now that Apple’s online store has been refreshed after today’s WWDC keynote we’re seeing a variety of new accessories available. Among the notable new products is the wireless Magic Keyboard with a numeric keypad. Until now, Apple only offered its keyboard with numeric trackpad in a wired variant. Users were forced to decide between sticking with the wired option or spending more money to get a third-party numeric keypad add-on....

While it has been in the works for years, Apple Music has officially launched “Apple Digitial Masters” as a way to bring its “Mastered for iTunes” hi-res recordings into one global catalog. Reported by Billboard, Apple has today confirmed that it is combining its collection of hi-res recordings from the Mastered for iTunes program with an initiative called Apple Digital Masters for Apple Music. The report notes that Apple has been slowly rolling out this content over the past years but today is the first time the company has made an announcement about it....

Apple’s software engineering SVP Craig Federighi has warned that developers must follow the company’s anti-tracking rules, or else their apps will be removed from the App Store… The new App Tracking Transparency rules were initially meant to be part of iOS 14, but were delayed after protests by Facebook and advertisers. They are now expected to come into force during the summer, at which point apps will have to display a privacy pop-up asking permission to enable ad-tracking....

Apple has just sent out official invitations to media outlets (via CNBC) for its next special event on September 9th. Apple struck a deal today with DHX Media to produce new animated content with Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang for its upcoming video streaming service. Apple today has been granted a handful of new patents, some of which are more notable than others. Such patents include one for an iPhone “smart dock” with Siri built-in, a new 911 calling method, and more. Patently Apple points to one notable patent for an iPhone smart dock with Siri support. The patent covers the invention of a “smart dock for communicating with a portable electronic device to activate a voice recognition mode....

We’re not sure how we (and everyone else) missed this one. It appears that Apple is making a new version of the iPhone 4. The new hardware number appeared in iOS device downloads on September 19th but hasn’t shown up yet for developers yet: It is hard to tell what this device is yet. It could be an internal hardware processor update…something like the iPad 2,4 we saw this year that includes a lower-power A5 processor....

Per Apple’s support document, they will now fix the issue with the rubber bottom on the white unibody MacBook coming off due to issues with glue. This applies to any MacBook purchased between October 2009 and April 2011. The program is available free of charge via your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Providers. There’s another option, too. A self service is available as well where you order a replacement bottom case kit online....
