According to very reliable sources, Apple is about to release a red colored iPhone Bumper case. Apple’s inventory system just calls it “Red,” so we’re not sure if it’s PRODUCT(RED) certified. But with Apple’s ties to the organization, we’d assume it is. Not the actual Red Bumper: With Apple’s redesigned iPhone coming in less than a month, it seems hard to believe that Apple would release a case for the iPhone 4S/4....

Apple has updated its server-to-server notifications today with the ability for developers to get alerts when a renewal fails or when a billing issue is resolved. Apple noted that developers who already have server-to-server notifications set up in App Store Connect will get the new notifications automatically. There is also a new unified receipt. Over the summer, Apple informed developers that all apps would be required to securely connect to servers by January 1st, 2017. The announcement came as part of the App Transport Security feature in iOS 9. This evening, however, Apple announced that it is extending the deadline for developers to make the switch to HTTPS connectivity… In a post on its developer website, Apple stated that it is giving developers more time to support App Transport Security and thus extending the deadline....

Google gave a testimony to Congress last year claiming it earned two-thirds of its mobile revenue from iOS devices, but now it seems as though the company’s estimate might have been low. Google made less than $550 million in revenues for Android between 2008 and 2011, while making four times as much revenue during the same period with Apple products that employ Google services like Search and Maps. According to The Guardian, the settlement offer provided yesterday by Google to Oracle depicted Android’s revenue streams....

Now, this could be referring to any future projects Apple decides to implement, but given their purchase of land in North Carolina and planned investment of an estimated $1 billion on data center, we think this isn’t a coincidence. The data center, according to at least one report, will be used to support the sales of both the iTunes Store as well as the iPhone App Store, though other possibilities have been discussed as well....

As reported this morning, Apple officially announced a new News app as part of iOS 9. The app takes the place of Newsstand and allows users to easily view and read the news they care most about. With an interface similar to Flipboard, Apple highlights the rich typography. Apple also touts how users are prompted to pick specific topics in which they are interested and then the app propagates with content relating to those selected topics....

The Good News: (Images: Apple) Speed was a big emphasis at the announcement today. The iPhone 4S, execs said, includes a dual-core A5 processor and enhanced graphics processing circuitry. It’ll bring twice the processing power and seven times better graphics than the iPhone 4, Apple claimed. We’ll see. The new iPhone, available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions will ship later this month. Sprint joins Verizon and AT&T as carriers....

For enterprise customers who use Apple, the week of WWDC brought some rather shocking news. Late in the week, first-party mobile device management (MDM) solution Fleetsmith announced Apple had purchased them for an undisclosed sum. There was a bit of controversy with the purchase, as Apple immediately discontinued Fleetsmith’s App Catalog without warning. This left a lot of customers in a bind as soon as they woke up that morning....

Yes, any customer can return an iPad within 14 days regardless of the issue, so Apple is not really giving up too much in the way of leverage here....

AOL has informed its corporate employees that it has temporarily disabled the ability to manage meetings via mobile devices due to a bug with Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch iOS 6.1 operating system. We received an internal email from a source detailing the announcement from AOL CIO Michael Freker. The iOS 6.1 bug causes a “continuous loop” when meetings are attempted to be managed. This leads to a degraded iOS device performance and battery life experience....

A total of 97 companies, including Apple and many other major Silicon Valley technology firms, filed an amicus brief late on Sunday to oppose the immigration order introduced by US President Donald Trump (via Bloomberg). An amicus brief is a legal filing that allows parties not directly involved in a lawsuit to offer their opinions to the court. The brief says an open-ended ban does not aid America’s national security and instead undermines its interests....
