Apple decided to take legal action against a company called Prepear in August 2020 because the company has a pear-shaped logo, which Apple claims is very similar to its own logo — although Prepear has nothing to do with technology. Today, however, both companies have reached an agreement, and Apple will let Prepear use the fruit logo with a subtle change. Prepear is a spin-off of the Super Healthy Kids service, and it offers healthy recipes and a digital grocery list through a mobile app....

Although Apple didn’t offer a video stream of its March education event, it comes as no surprise that its WWDC stage will be streamed live. Apple confirmed this today with a new banner on the Apple.com homepage, inviting customers to join in on the announcements on June 4. The event video will be available to watch live from 10 AM Pacific Time on June 4. Apple has today updated the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro with a spec bump refresh. The laptops feature Intel’s latest eighth-generation processors, with a six-core option on the 15-inch model. The new 15-inch MacBook Pro can also be specced with up to 32 GB RAM, with a DDR4 configuration. The new 13- and 15-inch models are available to order today, starting at $1799 and $2399. The new laptops also bring Apple’s True Tone display technology to the Mac lineup for the first time, as well as a third-generation butterfly keyboard....

A study conducted by CrowdFlower found Apple Maps is three times more likely to get its users lost compared to Google Maps. The results of the study were found by picking 1,000 random business listings in the U.S. and 100 listings in the U.K. and comparing them across Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Bing’s results. CrowdFlower first wanted to see if each service used in the study would find the location of the random businesses, and if found, if the directions would lead to the business....

Apple has made things official for its much anticipated next-gen iPhone unveiling with invites going out to press today for the event scheduled for 10 am PT, September 12 at Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, the new Cupertino campus. Apple says that in total, the App Store has generated more than $200 billion for developers since the App Store launch in 2008. On New Year’s Day, Apple says that customers spent a record of $540 million in the App Store....

After its first season of Time to Walk workouts ended in April, Apple today announced that new audio episodes will start again beginning June 28. Time to Walk is part of Apple Fitness+, Apple’s fitness workout subscription service. As previously warned by Apple, Epic’s App Store account has now been terminated due to the Fortnite developer knowingly violating App Store policy. Epic Games still had a few apps available for iOS aside from Fortnite, and they were all removed today. Fortnite for iOS was updated earlier this month with a new option that allowed users to purchase in-game items directly through Epic’s payment system instead of using Apple’s In-App Purchases....

The Wall Street Journal reported this evening that Apple isn’t seeing the success they’d like with their iAd platform. The company has deployed iAd as an advertising platform throughout their iOS devices in the summer of 2010 and is now making changes in the hope of attracting both more developers and ad spending. First off, Apple is reportedly lowering the entry-level cost for marketers to $400,000 – down from $500,000 and even lower from the original $1 million when the platform was launched....
