After the iPhone 8 and X launched with a 5W maximum for wireless charging, Apple upped that to 7.5W shortly after with the release of iOS 11.2. However, a new report today claims that a change in the wireless charging coil in a least one of the 2018 iPhones will allow Apple to move toward 15W. The main trade-off right now for using wireless charging with an iPhone 8 or X is speed....

Up until today, users in the Republic of Korea were being charged with U.S. Dollars, which were then converted back to the Korean Won for its App Store policies. After the surprise move of Apple buying Dark Sky, the popular hyperlocal weather app, Bloomberg has learned that it has also purchased another company this week called Voysis. The latest is an artificial intelligence startup that could help Apple improve Siri’s skill at understanding natural language. Noted by Bloomberg, the Irish company Voysis has been working on improving digital assistants in apps to understand more advanced requests: Google Assistant has a notable lead in natural language comprehension and processing and the acquisition of Voysis could be one way for Apple to make up some ground with Siri....

Alongside the smaller iPad, Apple plans to announce a new version of its Mac mini. Sources say that these Mac minis will come in two standard configurations, with different storage and processor options, and a third model that runs OS X Server. These new Mac minis are said to begin shipping immediately after announcement. Apple last redesigned the Mac mini with a unibody aluminum enclosure in 2010, and last updated the computer with faster processors last summer....

Apple has refreshed its third-generation iPad line today, as expected, with a semi-minor upgrade that includes a new Lightning connector, but the company also included some upgraded internals in what it is calling the “fourth-generation iPad.” “It is a power house,” said Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller while on stage at the event. The fourth-generation iPad features faster performance with dual-core A6X and quad-core graphics. It also has a 5-megapixel iSight camera, expanded LTE chipset, front-facing camera with FaceTime and 720p video capture, ultrafast two-times Wi-Fi, and Lightening connector....

Apple just released a press release confirming the new iPad will launch in China on July 20. With roughly 1.33 billion people, China is one of Apple’s biggest markets left out of the first wave of international rollouts. Last fall, reports indicated that Apple was in talks to open up a store inside of the upcoming New York-based World Trade Center shopping mall.
